Although the Sarawak and Sabah markets for new vehicles are smaller than in Peninsular Malaysia, many car companies still give the East Malaysian region a lot of attention. Those selling vehicles like pick-up trucks and SUVs, in particular, have a large potential market that continues to grow.
The potential of the market in East Malaysia has led companies like Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) to develop its sales and aftersales network which now has 14 outlets (7 in Sarawak and 7 in Sabah), with the opening of a new outlet in Sarawak recently.
The new outlet, operated by Auto Pacifica Sdn Bhd, is a 4S outlet which means that besides new vehicle sales, aftersales and sales of spare parts, there is also body repair and painting available. This makes it convenient for customers and owners as all the required services are at one location which is along the main road of Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi in Bintulu.
The outlet has the frontage of a 2-storey shop lot and an adjacent service centre on a built-up area of 10,000 sq. ft. Its design follows Mitsubishi Motors’ brand identity with the global brand message ‘Drive Your Ambition’.
The service centre has 5 bays with trained technicians and a customer lounge with amenities ad a kids’ corner. Besides viewing the latest Mitsubishi models, customers can also get assistance for vehicle insurance renewals.
According to Shinya Ikeda, Chief Executive Officer of MMM, the outlet in Bintulu is one of three operated by Auto Pacifica, a subsidiary of the Samling Strategic Corporation. There is another one in Miri and the third one will open in Kota Samarahan by the end of March 2023.
