Perodua’s Cumulative Sales Volume Passes 250,000 Units With One Month Left

With one month remaining to the year, Perodua’s total sales volume has reached 250,785 units, already exceeding its 2022 target of 247,800 units. The output from the Malaysian carmaker’s two factories also reached new highs in November as the company shifts into higher gear to meet demand.

During the month of November, another 28,592 units were added to the sales volume, an increase of 40.9% when compared with 20,299 units delivered in November 2021, and a 10.6% increase when over the 25,849 units delivered in October this year.

On a year-on-year comparison, the total volume of 250,795 units was 50% higher than the 167,250 units delivered during the same 11-month period in 2021. However, Perodua also notes that the significant increase compared to 2021 was due to the COVID-19 lockdown between June and mid-August last year. The previous highest annual (12 months) volume was in 2019 when the company delivered 240,319 units, so this year will see a new record.

During November, the 8,089 units of the Bezza were delivered, followed by the Myvi with 6,624 units and the Axia with 5,812 units.

28% of the vehicles Perodua delivered in November were the Bezza.

“This sales achievement is on the back of our production achievement so far this year, which numbered 258,960 units. We also achieved our highest monthly production ever since inception at 29,149 units,” said Perodua’s President & CEO, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

“This achievement is meaningful on many levels; the first shows our ability to further maximise current resources, both within Perodua and its supplier ecosystem. The second is that through this achievement, we now realise that we can further increase output – both in sales and production without investing in a new plant or acquiring more land for our manufacturing operations,” he said.

“That being said, we will continue to invest in upgrading our operations as a group with emphasis in knowledge and skill development of our people. We are also working closely with our suppliers and dealers to ensure that their operations are capable to meet future demand and challenges.” Dato’ Sri Zainal added.

Dato’ Sri Zainal said the company will ensure that all those who booked their vehicle before the sales tax exemption expiry date (June 30, 2022) will get their vehicles before March 31, 2023. The government has given up to that date for deliveries and registration to be made in view of the parts shortage affecting the industry which reduced output.

“We are looking to continue the sales and manufacturing momentum to ensure that all our valued customers will receive their Perodua vehicles quicker,” Dato’ Sri Zainal promised.
