While the Movement Control Order (MCO) is still on, the government has decided that families can be reunited if they are in different states. Announcing this at the daily press briefing today, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said married couples can cross state lines from Wednesday, January 27, 2021.
The provision is for couples who have been forced to stay in different locations due to work. “The National Security Council special meeting has heard their appeal, and we have agreed to give some flexibility,” he said.
Must meet two conditions
The spouse as well as family will be permitted inter-state travel but must meet certain conditions. Firstly, police permission will be required, which means getting an authorisation letter to show at roadblocks. Second and more importantly, every person travelling must do a swab test first to ensure they are not infected with COVID-19. This is for the protection of other family members and is important because it is known that many infections around the country have started because of inter-state travel earlier.
The MCO Permit Forms can be downloaded from the MKN’s Telegram channel or from the PDRM website. They can print out the form to fill in the details and submit two copies at the police station for approval.
