The recent Toyota Outrun fun run event organised by UMW Toyota Motor saw over 3,000 people taking part at Bandar Rimbayu, Kota Kemuning, Selangor yesterday morning. The charity event successfully raised a total of RM151,100 collected from the participants’ registration fees were donated to the Paralympic Council of Malaysia.
The 8-km course saw people from all walks of life getting together for a good cause. What’s even more inspiring was the fact that even people with multiple disabilities joined in the festivities to prove their determination to “Start Your Impossible”.
Even Abdul Latif Romly, Malaysia’s first Paralympian named as ‘Sportsman of the Year’ in 2016, was also present (who also happens to be UMWT’s “Start Your Impossible” Ambassador). All of the donated funds to the Paralympic Council of Malaysia will be used to train all fellow trainers to ensure that they are well equipped to ‘guide disabled persons who have sports potential’.
According to Akio Takeyama, Deputy Chairman of UMW Toyota Motor, “UMW Toyota Motor is very pleased to be able to support physically challenged people who wish to participate in sports. This is in line with Toyota Motor Corporation’s substantial support for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games as its first-ever mobility partner.”
“We thank all the participants for joining us at this Toyota Outrun today and contributing towards a good cause. The fund collected should be useful for the Paralympic Council of Malaysia in its activities and we will certainly be looking at how we can offer more support in future,” said Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor.
