The awesome folks from Porsche have announced that their 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S and 4S Coupe will come with a seven-speed manual transmission at no additional charge for those who love living on the wilder side of life. Starting next year, customers can opt-out the very capable standard eight-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission.
This new seven-speed manual transmission offering will be paired together with the standard Sport Chrono Package which includes several amazing goodies such as:
- Dynamic Drivetrain Mounts
- PSM Sport Mode
- Rev-match function
- Steering wheel Mode switch (Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual)
While the eight-speed PDK transmission comes with a fully variable, electronically controlled limited-slip differential, the new seven-speed manual gearbox will be paired with the standard mechanical limited-slip differential including Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV). This package was made available in the previous generation 911 Carrera S and 4S models.
What’s the biggest advantage of this seven-speed wonder? If you’re a good driver, you can hit 0-100km/h around the four seconds mark and blast it up to a top speed of over 305km/h. Since the manual transmission in itself is a slightly smaller package, the overall weight comes in at just 1,496kg.
There’s no news on whether this offering will ever arrive here on Malaysian shores but looking at how Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) works, we’re confident that they will most probably bring in a few units for some hardcore Porsche enthusiasts here in the country. The current offering for the Porsche 911 Carrera S and 4S starts from RM1.15 million.
