Porsche sold 202,318 cars in 2019 (so far)

Looks like Porsche has something to celebrate about as they report an increase of sales figures in the first three quarters of 2019. The premium car manufacturer has successfully delivered 202,318 units from January until September 2019; an increase of 3% compared to the same period of last year (196,562 units back in 2018).

3% might be little for some but for a brand that primarily focuses on premium options, that’s something to shout about as almost every market around the globe see a definite increase (apart from Europe and Germany). The biggest jump? China with a massive 14% increase compared to their sales figures from 2018.

Asia Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East also see a huge bump in sales (11% to be exact) with a total of 86,235 units sold so far. That’s 8,641 units more compared to the same period in 2018. I don’t know about you guys and gals but that’s a pretty huge margin of profits right there.

This boost in numbers is primarily focused on the buyers’ interest in Porsche’s two SUV models; the Cayenne and Macan. The Cayenne has seen a rise in popularity with 62,022 units successfully delivered while the latest Macan models sold even more at 73,967 units in total. In other words, both Cayenne and Macan see a positive increase of 25% and 9% respectively.

According to Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG, “The growth in China and the USA makes us positive about achieving our overall targets for the year. In the medium term, there are signs of slight weakening in overall growth, however. We will monitor this closely and nevertheless remain optimistic going forward – also thanks to the full order books for the new Porsche Taycan.”
