The Proton 1 Tank Adventure is back for its second year running and to kick things off, the first opening preliminary round took place over the Malaysia Day weekend where 30 cars took part in a 650km adventure from Proton’s Centre of Excellence (COE) to Johor Bahru AND back!
60 participants in 30 cars which comprised of the latest 2019 Proton Iriz, Persona, and Saga literally had to go the extra mile with everything that happened from the long weekend traffic, unpredictable weather, and the will to drive as efficient as possible.
Each and every participant managed to complete the Proton 1 Tank Adventure successfully without any mishaps and they were rewarded along the way with a delicious local fruit feast, stopping by iconic locations like Perigi Batu Pahat and Tanjung Piai National Park, and more.
The best result was achieved by the 2019 Proton Iriz where they scored a fuel efficiency figure of 4.94-litre/100km followed by the 2019 Proton Saga at 4.98-litre/100km and 2019 Proton Persona at 5.43-litre/100km. These figures were all achieved even when the participants had to keep to the set minimum average speed for safety reasons.
According to Dr Li Chunrong, CEO of Proton, “The opening round of this year’s 1 Tank Adventure was very challenging, but everyone completed the course safely. More importantly, we gave the participants an opportunity to test their cars in driving conditions that would allow them to experience the safety equipment and dynamic abilities of their cars, proving that our cars offer the best value and driving experience among all vehicles in their class.”
According to Rohayudin bin Ya’acob, one of the participants in the 2019 Proton Persona, “I was amazed by the fuel efficiency of our car, but I am also truly surprised by the handling capabilities and amount of safety equipment available in a Proton car. If possible, I would recommend all Proton car owners to grab the opportunity to really test out their cars to the limit because only by doing so can they appreciate the big difference between the ride and handling of a Proton and its competitors.”
