MINI will be putting on quite an ‘electrifying’ show at the IAA Cars 2019 where they plan to globally unveil a number of new electrified models but the one that caught our attention the most is their new all-electric 2020 MINI Cooper SE which marks a new era for the brand’s pure electric mobility.
Consuming nothing but electricity (around 16.8kWh for every 100km), the all-electric 2020 MINI Cooper SE allows fans and enthusiasts to enjoy the best MINI has to offer with absolutely no local emissions whatsoever. That means pure driving pleasure and protecting the environment altogether.
The unveiling of their all-new electric options also marks the brand’s 60th anniversary where MINI plans to go all out in Frankfurt from 12 to 22 September 2019 at the IAA Cars 2019. Possessing the first premium compact car with a purely electric drive system, MINI promises a ‘sustainable urban driving experience that also fires emotions.’
Powered by a 184hp electric motor, the 2020 MINI Cooper SE offers breath-taking acceleration thanks to the electric motor’s instantaneous torque delivery where drivers can hit 60km/h in just 3.9 seconds from a standstill and 7.3 seconds to reach 100km/h; all without using a single drop of fuel.
All of its juice is stored in MINI’s latest generation lithium-ion battery that offers a good driving range of around 270km for a single charge. With bespoke suspension tuning and a low centre of gravity (thanks to the battery positioning in the chassis), the 2020 MINI Cooper SE is said to have remarkable handling agility and cornering dynamics. Who doesn’t want those in their lives?
The strategically placed battery also means that none of space in the cabin and boot have been sacrificed in order for all occupants to enjoy the ride along with their luggage. Other standard equipment available in the new all-electric model are:
- LED headlights
- Fully digital instrument cluster
- Electric parking brake
- Two-zone automatic air conditioning
- Connected Navigation + more
No news on the price or packages just yet but MINI has informed that the all-electric 2020 MINI Cooper SE will go into production starting November 2019. Oh, what joy, oh what fun.
