Cyan Racing (formerly known as Polestar), has achieved their biggest milestone yet by breaking not one but two lap records at the infamous Nürburgring circuit. It was done as part of the development of their 528hp Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept, which now holds the title of the fastest four-door car and the fastest front-wheel driven car in the world at the legendary track.
They concept beast managed to lap the Nürburgring in 7 minutes 20.143 seconds with an average speed of 170.4km/h with Thed Björk behind the wheel who also happens to be the 2017 touring car racing world champion.
According to Björk, “We continued our development of the car in torrential rain and scorching sunshine on the most fearsome circuit in the world. The car is rewarding to drive no matter the conditions, be it the Nürburgring or the autobahn. The record that we achieved here is something I rank on the same level as my racing titles and a highlight in my part of transitioning development from race to road cars.”
The previous fastest lap for four-door cars was held by Jaguar while the front-wheel driven cars was in the hands of Renault, but Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept broke their records by three seconds and 25 seconds respectively.
That’s quite an achievement to have and with Cyan Racing being the official motorsport partner to Geely Group Motorsport, it’s essentially a road-going version of the race machine used by the team to compete in the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR).
