One of Malaysia’s most affordable car is back with more value, advanced safety features, and updated styling and it’s open for booking. The 2019 Perodua Axia gets more excitement with six variants on offer – E, G, GXtra, SE, AV, and the latest addition, STYLE model.
The same 1.0-litre 1KR-VE engine powers the latest updated version of the Axia and it comes with two transmission choices; five-speed manual (E variant only) and electronically controlled four speed automatic.
The biggest addition to the new 2019 Perodua Axia is the Perodua Advanced Safety Assist 2.0 (ASA 2.0) which offers a host of driver assistance safety systems that made its debut back in January with the highly anticipated Perodua Aruz seven-seater SUV.
According to Perodua’s President and CEO, Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad, “The Axia is at the very core of what Perodua stands for – to provide affordable and fuss-free mobility for all. Over 380,000 units have found homes since we first introduced the model in September 2014, and it was in fact our best-seller from 2015 through 2017. With the 2019 Perodua Axia, we aim to redefine practical mobility in Malaysia by levelling up the standards of value, safety and style to ensure that the Axia remains your first choice.”
The features that are available in the new 2019 Perodua Axia thanks to the newly added ASA 2.0 are:
- Pedestrian Detection (up to 50 km/h)
- Pre-Collision Warning (up to 100 km/h)
- Pre-Collision Braking (up to 80 km/h)
- Front Departure Alert
- Pedal Misoperation Control
All variants from GXtra and above also comes with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and traction control as standard while ABS and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution are available across the board as part of their standard equipment (apart from the E variant).
The new STYLE variant is said to appeal to the fun and active side of the driver’s personality in which it will be properly introduced in due time. For now, bookings can be made where the new 2019 Perodua Axia is priced from an estimated RM24,090 – RM43,190 (OTR before insurance). All new Axia models come with a five-year/150,000 km warranty.
