Audi has unveiled their latest 2020 Audi RS 6 Avant and its super-fast Avant concept has been further refined in the fourth-generation model. Powering this latest beast is a 4.0-litre TFSI twin-turbo V8 engine with mild hybrid technology that punches out a hefty 590hp and 800Nm of maximum torque.
Coupled with Audi’s latest state-of-the-art efficiency features which include the mild hybrid drive and cylinder-on-demand technology, the 2020 Audi RS 6 Avant is said to deliver ‘epic performance as responsibly as possible.’
According to Oliver Hoffmann, Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH, “Throughout our 25-year RS history, the Audi RS 6 Avant is one of our absolute icons with a large global fan base. We will also be offering the RS 6 Avant in North America for the very first time. As such, we will be tapping into a new market with huge potential and generating further growth.”
Exclusive RS-specific parts garnish the exterior of the new RS 6 Avant which give it a more broad and powerful look for those who are looking for a huge dose of sophistication with its performance. Resting on 21-inch wheels, the broad flared arches further amplifies the raw supremacy it possesses.
Audi has stated that the new RS 6 Avant is one of the first few models to incorporate the latest RS design language. This can be seen via its new bonnet with powerdome, front headlights taken from the A7, LED rear lights, and dynamic indicators with RS-specific sequencing when the car is locked and unlocked.
Completing all of these new exterior highlights is a gloss black Singleframe grille with a three-dimensional honeycomb structure that blends together with side air inlets and other features inspired by their flagship Audi R8 sports machine.
More dynamic ism can be seen at other exterior features such as elongated front section, long straight roofline, flat D pillars, roof edge spoiler, and an RS-specific bumper with rear diffuser. There’s also the RS exhaust system that flows on both sides into oval chrome-coloured tailpipes.
The style and performance package offered by the 2020 Audi RS 6 Avant gives fellow owners to hit 100km/h in just 3.6 seconds from a standstill. When conditions are just right, 200km/h can be achieved within 12 seconds. Top speed? Limited to 250km/h.
The powerful V8 also features a new mild hybrid system that helps to recover up to 12 kW of power when slowing down. This system allows for greater efficiency and fuel consumption to ensure that you’ll be making less stops at the petrol station to refuel.
Other unique specifications include:
- Eight-speed tiptronic transmission with a new Launch Control
- Wheel-selective torque control
- Progressive steering
- Dynamic handling system with selectable driving modes (comfort, auto, dynamic, efficiency, and the individually configurable RS-specific RS1 and RS2 modes)
- Electronic Stabilisation Control (ESC)
