It was a sad day for all Beetle fans around the globe as it was recently announced that it’ll stop production. To bid farewell to this ultra-iconic model, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) is paying homage with the introduction of the Volkswagen Collector’s Edition Beetle.
This limited edition is only available at 75 units here in Malaysia and those who are interested should know that VPCM has priced this beauty at RM164,390 (OTR without insurance) and is available in four colour options; Blue Silk, Pure White, Habanero Orange and Tornado Red.
What makes this particular model unique? An array of accessories worth RM12,000 is part of the package which includes rear spoiler, decorative film, chrome exhaust tips, aluminium sports pedals, scuff plates, VW Tint and an emblem marking its production run.
To make things legit, owners of this limited and very special model will also receive an official Collector’s Edition certificate of ownership. Do take note that this is the final special edition model of the Beetle here in Malaysia and those who are interested should be quick about booking one of your very own.
According to Erik Winter, Managing Director of VPCM, “All good things must come to an end, and it is the same with this global bestseller. The Beetle has enjoyed a rich history – in Malaysia it is one that dates to when it was assembled in Shah Alam in 1968. In fact, most Malaysians grew up with a connection to the much-loved car.”
“No other car has sparked such a cult following and defined generations the way the Beetle has. This is the end of an era, so it is only right that we celebrate the life and times of the Beetle with something truly special that is the Collector’s Edition,” added Mr Winter.
After 80 years of production and cementing its status and a cult icon, the Beetle has gone through several monumental marks in its history which includes over 21.5 million units sold around the globe. It is without a doubt one of the best-selling cars of the 20th century.
To all you Beetle fans, owners, and enthusiasts, you must, MUST, go The Iconic Gathering happening this 13 July 2019 in Putrajaya where Volkswagen will be attempting to break the current Malaysia record of the largest Beetle gathered at one location.
