According to a recent posting in Headlightmag forum, it seems that there might just be another Honda model that will receive the famous ‘Type R’ badge towards the end of this year. That’s right, folks. We might just see the emergence of the 2020 Honda Jazz Type R.
Someone in the know (or who was super lucky) came across the ‘priceless’ information and ‘leaked’ it onto the online forum. Known for its agile handling and compact dynamics, the Jazz seems like the appropriate model to receive the honours of the Type R badge and works.
According to the leaked photos, the 2020 Honda Jazz Type R will mostly likely run a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine similar to the one found in the current Civic and CR-V. It was also shown that the Jazz Type R will produce a cool 217hp and 245Nm of maximum torque.
To compare, the current Jazz 1.5L V and 1.5L Hybrid currently on offer here in Malaysia produce 118hp and 137hp respectively (torque outputs at 145Nm for V and 170Nm for the Hybrid). To prospect of Honda offering the Jazz with almost twice the power is something that many people around the world will greatly appreciate, including fellow Malaysians.
So far, only four Honda models have received the Type R treatment which includes the NSX, Integra, Civic, and Accord. The Jazz Type R will most likely be more affordable for all you Type R fans and enthusiasts out there who can’t really afford the high-end goodies, particularly the sexy NSX.
