The 2020 MINI John Cooper Works GP has 300hp!

The very first working prototype of the 2020 MINI John Cooper Works GP was recently previewed publicly for the first time as part of the 24 Hours Nürburgring pre-race programme and trust us when we say this, you will want one of these bad boys.

The John Cooper Works GP is set to storm the market in 2020 and only 3,000 units will be produced for global consumption. The new MINI John Cooper Works GP is currently completing set-up runs on the legendary Nürburgring-Nordschleife as part of its series development process.

This means that the GP version is not even in its final production stage yet as the brand focuses on pushing its performance even further. At the 24-hour race, the MINI and John Cooper Works engineers will interrupt their testing programme for a short while to present the disguised prototype of the new MINI John Cooper Works GP to the public for the first time.

There are many outstanding updates to the new John Cooper Works GP such as high engine power, model-specific suspension technology harmonised with John Cooper Works motor racing expertise, weight-optimised construction and precisely defined aerodynamic properties. The result is a MINI that goes around Nürburgring in less than eight minutes!

This is all thanks to a new four-cylinder engine with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology that pushes the performance up to 300hp and that is just insane for a soon-to-be-produced car of this size. Other noteworthy updates include:

  • Wide open air intakes
  • Large light alloy wheels
  • New aero package

As stated earlier, there will be 3,000 units available come 2020 and if you’re interested, better get that money ready because limited editions of this nature will not come cheap. BUT it will be worth every cent.
