The 2019 Mazda6 has been announced as the recipient of the Top Safety Pick Award earlier today, presented by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the United States. The honours were given to the Mazda6 not only for its top safety ratings but also a list of passive and active safety features from their latest Advanced Smart City Brake Support with Pedestrian Detection to the design of the headlights.
To even qualify for the IIHS Top Safety Pick Award 2019, the vehicle must have good ratings from all sides of the vehicles as well as superior ratings for front crash prevention and good headlights rating. The 2019 Mazda6 have done so by receiving good ratings in all six IIHS crash-worthiness evaluations.
The 2019 Mazda6 i-Activsense safety features are now standard on every Mazda6 sold. These features include Advanced Smart City Brake Support with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning with Lane-Keep Assist, Smart Brake Support and Mazda Radar Cruise Control with stop and go function.
According to Mazda President Jeff Guyton, President of Mazda North American Operations, “Mazda designs its vehicles with the driver in mind. Taking an active approach to safety gives the driver more peace of mind, which makes driving more fun. Confident driving is better driving, and the updates to the 2019 Mazda6 show Mazda’s commitment to providing our customers with advanced safety technologies.”
This achievement has now placed the Mazda6 alongside the latest Mazda3, CX-3, CX-9, and CX-5 as the winners of the Top Safety Pick awards held annually by IIHS. Top of the props to ya, Mazda!
