Mercedes-Benz EQ Range unveiled in Malaysia

‘The pinnacle of luxury meets electric intelligence’. That’s how the Mercedes-Benz EQ Range was presented during its formal introduction earlier today in Kuala Lumpur with three very exciting model; The S 560 e, C 300 e, and the very first Southeast Asia premiere, the all-electric EQC.

The exclusive showcases represent the brand’s technological leadership and their overall direction in the future on mobility. The Mercedes-Benz EQ Range starts with the first ever S-Class Plug-In Hybrid, the S 560 e. Featuring Mercedes’ latest PHEV system, the latest entry into the S-Class is now more efficient and powerful than ever.

According to Dr. Claus Weidner, President and CEO of MBM, ‘EQ’ is a new brand experience for customers in Malaysia and it redefines the future of mobility. It covers all major aspects of customer-oriented electric mobility that goes beyond the vehicle itself.

The highlight of today’s launch was the official launch of the S 560 e. At its main core lies a V6 spark-ignition engine with hybrid drive system that produces 367hp and an additional electric output of 122hp. Thanks to a brand-new lithium-ion battery, the new S-Class can travel up to 50km just on electric power alone.

Mercedes-Benz has not forgotten about the luxury aspect when it comes to the new S 560 e. Fitted with the likes of Nappa Leather, exclusive trim package, and high gloss burr walnut wood trim, there’s no denying how exceptional it looks inside and out.

There’s also the Chauffeur package which comes with ‘a host of adjustment options for the perfect seating position’ for that extra comfort for those looking for something a bit more premium and luxurious. This includes the Chauffeur position front-passenger seat, EASY ADJUST luxury head restraint for the front passenger and footrest that is power-retractable on the front passenger side.

MBM also took the opportunity to preview the C 300 e and the EQC models during the launch. They’re not in the market yet but MBM assures those who attended today that the time will come soon enough, especially the C 300 e.

The new entry variant in the EQ Power range embodies everything that’s Mercedes-Benz. Timeless, sporty yet elegant and contemporary design with state-of-the-art safety and assistance system all points toward the new hybrid C-Class that features the brand’s finest plug-in hybrid powertrain and latest developments of vehicles under the C-Class family.

Pop the hood and you’ll discover a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 211hp and 350Nm of maximum torque. The presence of an electric motor adds an extra 122hp which gives a final power output of 320hp and 700Nm of torque. That’s some serious power for the brand’s new entry variant in the EQ range.

As for the very exciting EQC, its first appearance in Southeast Asia could not have been more grand and exciting. The EQC 400 4MATIC is all electric, all Mercedes, all awesomeness. What it offers are outstanding everyday e-mobility combined with design, functionality and service in Mercedes-Benz’s own unique way.

We’re loving the whole avant-garde electric look which has a huge dose of the brand’s timeless luxury design paired with their latest driving technologies. Two electric motors power this beautiful beast with a combined power output of around 402hp. With its all-powerful capabilities, the EQC 400 4MATIC has been estimated to travel as far as 450km on just a single charge (provisional figure taken from NEDC).
