According to Wikipedia, The Gumball 3000 is a collection of companies that includes an apparel brand, a registered charity and is best known for an annual 3,000-mile (4,800 km) international celebrity motor rally, which takes place on public roads.
This year, fans of the high-profile rally will witness the world’s only road-legal Aston Martin Vulcan participating from Mykonos, Greece all the way to Ibiza, Spain.
Those who are new to the Gumball 3000 should also take note that this is no mere long-distance drive with normal cars. Participants from all over the world will not only show off some of the world’s most expensive and rarest supercars but also dressed them up with eye-catching custom designs.
Out of the 114 teams taking part, the one being driven by YouTube personality, Mr. JWW, is definitely worth nothing. Dressed and inspired by the Royal Air Force’s Avro Vulcan Bomber, Mr. JWW went through great lengths to ensure that this Aston Martin Vulcan is deemed road-legal just for Gumball.
The list of works done include:
- Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires
- Custom headlights
- Increased ride height
- New front splitter
- New radiator
- Removed steering lock stops
- Modified steering rack
With some assistance from Aston Martin, the only Vulcan out of 24 fine examples made for the planet now has a more subtle façade by toning down the madness only the Vulcan has. This is indeed a good thing to have, especially for Aston Martin for their next supercar.
