Around 10,500 Perodua staff from across the country have committed to a safer and responsible driving for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri journeys. The annual ‘balik kampung’ trip where thousands of road users could really use a more considerate driving community to help lower down the statistics of accidents during the festive season.
According to Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad, “As millions of Malaysians prepare to take to the roads to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri at their hometowns, Perodua is pulling out all the stops in its Road Safety Programme to further stress the importance of taking road safety seriously.”
“As a People First company, Perodua genuinely cares very much for the safety and well-being of its employees, customers and the general public. Since we launched our long-term Road Safety Programme in October 2017, we have embarked on many educational and awareness-boosting initiatives, both internally and externally,” he added.
Perodua held a balik kampung flag-off ceremony for its staff last Friday at its Sungai Choh headquarters, where Dato’ Zainal gave out high-visibility safety vests to staff motorcyclists and reminded everyone to take extra care on the roads this festive period.
“We also constantly remind our employees of our four road safety pillars – wear seat belts, use turn signals, secure children in child seats, do not use mobile devices when driving – and to practice Kiken Yochi (technique of anticipating potential hazards),” Dato’ Zainal said.
“We believe that safety is a must and that it is everyone’s right. To all Malaysians motoring home for Raya, please plan ahead, rest well beforehand, check the roadworthiness of your vehicles and drive courteously, patiently and carefully. We wish everyone Selamat Hari Raya and a safe journey.”
