Ferrari has bagged four different awards this week at the 21st International Engine & Powertrain of the Year but none more triumphant than being awarded with the overall title for four years in a row. This is all thanks to Ferrari’s 3.9-litre V8 engine which was constructed so beautifully, it achieved more than any other engines could.
Which V8 are we referring to? The same 3,902cc V8 engine found in the 488 GTB, 488 Spider, 488 Pista, and the 488 Pista Spider. Ferrari was also awarded with the Performance Engine award thanks to this eight-cylinder masterpiece.
With this year’s change from capacity categories to power output categories, to ensure a fairer judging of hybrid powertrains, Ferrari’s V8 took a further two categories: the same engine was voted the best power unit over 650 PS, while the 3,855cc version that powers the Portofino (with 590hp) and GTC4Lusso T (with 600hp) was awarded the 550 to 650 PS category.
All in all, Ferrari has won an impressive 31 awards at the International Engine & Powertrain of the Year ceremony, including the four titles they’ve won this year. Great work, Ferrari. Keep those V8s coming!
