It was exactly 35 years ago when BMW introduced the very first high-performance sedan in its class which combines bonkers driving dynamics and performance with the comfort and functionality of a 4-door-sedan. This time around, they decided to celebrate it by launching the 2020 BMW M5 Edition 35 Years.
Highly regarded as one of the world’s most successful high-performance sport sedans, this particular special edition BMW M5 kicks things up a few notches, starting with the most powerful engine in the model’s history under the bonnet. We’re talking 625hp here, folks.
This is due to its 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo Technology (based on the M5 Competition), a maximum output of 625hp and a maximum torque of 750Nm along with the ‘particularly direct engine connection, the distinctively configured suspension technology, the all-wheel drive system M xDrive and the Active M Differential in the rear axle transmission.’
In other words, 0-100kmh in just 3.3 seconds and 10.8 seconds to reach 200kmh.
The exterior of the 2020 BMW M5 Edition 35 Years is specially finished in Frozen Dark Grey II with a unique pigmentation that creates a silk matt surface. This certainly matches with its new 20-inch M light alloy wheels in Y spoke design finished with Graphite Grey that were created exclusively for the Edition model.
In addition, the calipers of the standard M compound brake system are finished in high-gloss black. The M carbon ceramic brake system is optionally available with brake calipers finished in gold.
Step inside and you will be welcomed with M multifunction seats and BMW Individual Merino full black leather trim with beige seams. To further elevate its interior, aluminium carbon structure gold anodized are presented here for the first time.
Door sill finishers bearing the inscription “M5 Edition 35 Jahre” and a lasing engraving with the inscription “M5 Edition 35 Jahre 1/350” on the cupholder cover in the centre console are further distinguishing marks of the Edition vehicles.
The best part? Only 350 units will be produced and made available starting July 2019. As for pricing, the US market is selling each model at $129,000, which is around RM 538,781. If it does arrive here in Malaysia, we’re pretty sure that the price will be slightly higher than this. But what do we care, we would definitely grab one if we had the money. No questions asked.
