UMW Toyota Sdn Bhd has officially announced their updated 2019 Toyota Avanza which is now on sale at all Toyota showrooms across Malaysia. Three different variants are up for purchase; Avanza 1.5E, 1.5S, and 1.5S+. This also means that the previous 1.5G variant has been discontinued while the 1.5X has been replaced by the 1.5S+.
So, what’s new? Those who are looking for a reasonably-priced MPV with premium styling can opt for the facelifted Toyota Avanza with several exterior enhancements. We’re talking two-tier LED headlamps, new foglamps, chromed ornaments, plus many more.
What used to be a bulkier look has now been refined with a more ‘Vellfire’-like appeal but on a more reasonable budget. 15-inch light alloy wheels (bright finish for 1.5E and dual-tone design for 1.5S and 1.5S+) fits in perfectly with the new Toyota Avanza. There’s also a new rear end spoiler which diverts air off the roof to reduce turbulence and provide a more comfortable ride.
Step inside the updated MPV and you’ll be pleasantly surprised with a more high-quality finish. A sportier look has been injected while maintaining the overall comfort and convenience for all occupants. These updated interior features include:
- 2-tone dashboard
- Digital Air-Conditioning system with Clean Air Filter
- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features (1.5S+ only)
- 75-inch Capacitive Touch Screen with WVGA Resolution Screen
- Updated meter cluster
- Two USB charging ports
The latest Toyota Avanza offering does not compromise the safety of its occupants with specs like Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (BSM + RCTA) system as standard. All variants get reverse sensors to aid parking and reversing as well as dual SRS airbags. A reverse camera is also standard for the Avanza 1.5S+ and optional for the Avanza 1.5E.
The same 1.5-liter four-cylinder DOHC dual VVT-I engine with a four-speed electronic automatic transmission is used with 103hp and 136Nm of maximum torque but with some refinements to further reduce the level of noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) for ‘increased motoring comfort’.
Toyota is able to perform this on the new Avanza thanks to better quality sound-insulation material, high-damping urethane material, and new tyres to reduce the noise generated outside of the cabin.
