During the launch of the all-new 2019 BMW 3 Series, BMW Malaysia threw one hell of a curve ball when they officially previewed the beautiful BMW Z4 Roadster. The extraordinary appearance happened earlier today at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).
When it comes down to agility, performance, and outright top handling, the 2-seater BMW Z4 Roadster priorities them above all else. That, however, does not deter from the fact that the car in real life looks gorgeous AF! Embedded with the genuine sports car performance pedigree, BMW has made momentous leaps and bounds with their new releases.
The combination of very notable lines and a clean-cut surface design create a very distinctive take on sporting roadster. A sculpted front end with large air intakes, a low, broad BMW kidney grill and headlights positioned at the outer edges showcase BMW’s new design direction.
The new mesh-design BMW kidney grill combines a track-inspired honeycomb pattern with a three-dimensional structure, whose elements have a vertical arrangement reminiscent of traditional BMW kidney grill bars. The design of the headlight units are a first for the brand, with the two light sources positioned one above the other.
Its low-profile, sporty and athletic façade hides some amazing firepower in the form of a 3.0-liter six-cylinder in-line engine. This platform is able to propel the BMW Z4 M40i Roadster to greater heights thanks to its 382hp and 500Nm of maximum torque! This translates to 0-100km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
Paired with a new chassis, the new Z4 Roadster also offers greater agility, handling dynamics, and overall comfort for its occupants. This is made possible with the introduction of newly designed double-joint spring strut suspension at the front and a new five-link suspension in the rear, a first for a BMW Roadster.
Other contributing specifications to the Z4’s agility that can be found in its Dynamic Stability Control are:
- Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
- Dynamic Traction Control (DTC)
- Cornering Brake Control (CBC)
- Dynamic Brake Control (DBC)
As of now, there are a lot of questions going around regarding this beauty in black. So far, there’s no news on availability and pricing just yet. One thing is for sure, BMW Malaysia is for sure taking 2019 seriously and the presence of this model alone this early shows that they’re ready to take on anything head on. We are definitely very excited to see this.
