Most car enthusiasts are familiar with the Japan Super GT Championship where it is set to return to Malaysia in 2020 for its first-ever night race. Well, the folks from Country Heights and Goldenport Enterprises (from China) just announced that they too want to contribute to the growth of Malaysian motorsport by hosting the first-ever Asia GT Festival at SIC in March 2019!
The Asia GT Festival is essentially the first round of the 2019 China GT Championship where the entire race weekend will be filled with high-octane racing action plus much other entertainment for the entire family. This will be the first time that the China GT Championship will be racing outside of China and the organisers are planning something huge, ladies and gentlemen.
According to Mr Matahari Lee, Executive Director of Country Heights, “Through this Asia GT Festival, we want to grow Malaysians’ exposure to a different kind of four-wheeled motorsport racing. Besides that, our other objective of hosting this race is to provide aspiring Malaysian racers the opportunity to be part of an internationally renowned racing event.
Jim Ye, founder of Goldenport Enterprises added “Since last year, we have been planning to broaden the appeal of Asia GT to the region and Malaysia is the best place to start because there are many passionate motorsports fans here. We are thrilled to be here in Kuala Lumpur which is a city with a rich culture and exciting opportunities. This is an exciting time for us and our partner Country Heights to see Malaysia as the highlight of the Asia GT racing calendar.”
Many famous racing brands will be taking part in the Asia GT Festival from Porsche, Audi, Bentley, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, and many more are all competing in the GT3 and GT4 categories. To make things even more exciting for the locals, there will also be support races handled by one of their newly-joined partners, Malaysia Speed Festival (MSF).
Other fun-filled activities will be further enhanced with the presence of MotoNation who will be taking care of promotion and ticket sales which are already available from as low as RM20 up to RM350. To know more, head over to the official MotoNation Facebook page or www.motonation.com.my.
