SDAP ushers in its latest offering for Malaysian Porsche enthusiasts, the manic new Porsche Cayman GT4.
Malaysian Porsche cars importer and distributor Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) heralded in the arrival of its latest addition to the local market, the manic new Porsche Cayman GT4. The new mid-engined sports car was presented in the Johor Premium Outlets, Johor by SDAP CEO Arnt Bayer.
Sitting at the top of the Cayman model range after the Cayman GTS, the Cayman GT4 takes a much more extreme as it was developed with ultimate track performance in mind. This is not the Cayman for the faint-hearted to say the least.
Powering the GT4 is a mid-mounted naturally aspirated 3.8-litre flat-six engine lifted from the 911 Carrera model. In the GT4, the mill is tuned to a whopping 385hp and 420Nm of peak torque and is paired exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. As a result, the Cayman GT4 despatched the century sprint just 4.4 seconds before hitting its claimed top speed of 295km/h.
Complementing its powerful powertrain are it’s the aerodynamic and track-focused chassis enhancements. Notable highlights include a large fixed rear wing, as wella s the 911 GT3-derived ventilated disc brakes grabbed by six-pot calipers up front and four-pot calipers in the rear.
Besides that, the Cayman GT4 also boasts the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Stability Management (PSM) systems, along with lightweight carbon-fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) full bucket seats, as well as 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels wrapped in ultra high performance tyres.
Unlike its other siblings in the Cayman model range, this rather ‘focused’ GT4 variant sits lower, longer and slightly wider as a result of its enhanced aerodynamics. Furthermore, the cabin is also richly lined with a mix of leather and alcantara whilst featuring a three-spoke steering wheel designed exclusively for the Cayman GT4.
SDAP have set the new Cayman GT4’s starting price with a four-year factory warranty at RM840,000 (excluding road tax, insurance and registration costs). SDAP states that customers who place orders now will have their vehicle delivered within the second half of 2016.
